O. (Osman) Selcuk Eroglu has earned his Master of Arts Degree at Yeditepe University Faculty of Fine Arts Painting Department with Honors in 2017.
During his Masters of Art education at Yeditepe University, Eroglu has been nominated by the faculty management to participate to the European Exchange Academy Program in Beelitz-Heilstaetten, Berlin, Germany and completed this program between August – September 2014.
Eroglu completed the Proficiency in Art Doctorate Program at Yeditepe University with the valuable support and guidance of his thesis advisor Prof. Dr. Marcus Graf and his lecturors in March 2023 and graduated with Doctor of Arts Degree.
Eroglu currently lives and works in Istanbul.
Artistic Approach |
Selcuk Eroglu creates both figurative and abstract works. His figurative creations are comprised of paintings and drawings which have been based on a certain theme as well as single works with a totally unrelated and varying content. While Eroğlu produces his figurative works based on observations of his environment and outside world in general, he creates his abstract works which are in geometric abstract style via improvisation and without any planing and design process.
Due to the fact that they do not contain any narratives or do convey any messages, the geometric abstract works of Eroğlu are of formalist nature. On the other hand while having a formalist style these works are also a reflection of Eroglu’s inner world and his feelings. In this respect geometric abstract works of Eroglu can be said to possess abstract expressionist features as well. What differentiates them however from traditional abstract expressionist works is that they contain geometric forms instead of organic/lyric ones.
These works of Eroglu can neither be associated with the symbols or images of a certain culture nor akin to the works of past or contemporary artists. These are in fact sincere and unique works reflecting Selcuk Eroglu.
