“Unseen Cities“ Exhibition –
Dr. Clinton Vickers Art Gallery / 2019

Italo Calvino’s “ Unseen Cities “ book (Le Città Invisibili) dated 1972 which has given its name to the exhibition narrates the fictitious cities each of which was named after a woman. Those cities which were a source of inspiration to Marco Polo during his trips and which were the subject matter of his conversations with Kublai Khan during their chess games. Calvino has set up the narrative based on indicators and the book is thereby regarded as one of the primary literary works in terms of semiotics. Dialectical oppositions are stressed in the book.

Yeditepe University Proficiency in Art Doctorate students Füge Demirok, Selin Sade Çöplü and Selcuk Eroğlu have presented on May 2019 the “ Unseen Cities “ mixed exhibition which they prepared by being inspired Calvino’s book with the same name to the liking of art lovers in Dr. Vickers Art Gallery, Enka Schools.
